"Vivid as Air" is a video installation where the visitor is entering a dark room in which a wall of air inflated plastic tubes rises diagonally from the floor and over your head. You are almost pushed down by the structure...
The imagery perceived through the inflated tubes consist of black and white texture slowly moving sideward while a swarm of red and blue particles are floating up and downwards. Since the projector is placed behind this wall, the imagery are diffuse and perceived as only a blur of light where it is impossible to distinguish any recognizable shapes. The nature of the "building blocks" of this wall is in no way a physiological obstacle for the visitor. But if the visitor decides to penetrate this wall of air and light the imagery will disappear for his or her vision. In this way the world constituted is only available by its unavailability. The only sound in the room is the monotonous buzz of an office fan inflating the pastic tube wall.
